5 Reasons You Should Start Using Self-Checkout

It’s Time to Embrace the Future

Self-checkouts seemed like the scourge of society when they first emerged. Everyone cried that they would replace jobs or make it harder on customers, but in actuality, they’ve introduced a new wave of user-friendly systems that many people prefer! Let’s explore a few reasons why you should embrace the machines, and why it’s good for you.

1. Quicker Checkout

Not every customer is a one-and-done shopper. Between a cartload of stuff and dozens of coupons on hand, you could be left in line for several grueling minutes. With self-checkouts, you can easily move through, all without having to listen to customers’ silly questions.

2. Simple System

Don’t be intimidated by the system—it’s incredibly easy to use. Even seniors can scan their items and head out with no issues. The touch screens are also intuitive; scan your items, select how many bags you used, and swipe your card!

3. No Impulse Buys

One of the worst things about getting caught in long lines is the impulse buys. Cash registers have magazines and candy, all begging to get added to your cart. With self-checkouts, your only company is other shoppers.

4. Accessibility

Not everyone wants to talk to people. Some people have wheelchairs or motorized scooters they need for mobility. With self-checkout, you have more space to move around without any awkward encounters. It’s also a great alternative when you’re not in the mood to speak with anyone.

5. Bag Your Own Items

Not everyone trusts the cashier to bag their groceries—now, you can do it yourself! Believe it or not, it’s just faster sometimes to load your own bags and head out the door. The last thing you want is those eggs to get squashed.
