5 Tacky Valentine's Day Gifts To Stop Getting

Don't Mess Up This Special Day

To make your partner feel extra special and loved next Valentine's Day, you want to give them a gift that immediately screams, "I love you!" rather than "Who are you?" Because while some presents are going to give you the biggest hug, others might leave you with a reluctant thanks. Here are five tacky Valentine's Day gifts to avoid.

1. Heart Necklaces

Sure, women will always appreciate jewelry, but heart necklaces for Valentine's Day just seem a bit too cheesy and overdone these days. You're better off picking a charm that has much more meaning to your partner or to your relationship. It shows you at least put in some thought!

2. Teddy Bears

Teddy bears are cute, but is your partner going to get much use out of it after Valentine's Day is over? Or is it going to become another plushie that gets tossed in the closet, forced to a life of collecting dust? These also tend to scream "I didn't know what to get you."

3. Chocolates

If there's one overrated Valetine's Day gift, it has to be chocolates. For a lot of people, they just see it as an easy way out. It's a kind gesture, but it's not particularly thoughtful and isn't very romantic anymore because of how overgifted it's become. You can definitely do better for your partner.

4. Generic Bouquets

Flowers can still be a very sweet gift for Valentine's Day, as long as you put some effort into picking which kind. If you pick roses just because they're viewed as "romantic," it's not personal in the slightest. At least buy a bouquet of your partner's favorite flowers!

5. Pre-Made Gift Baskets

Nothing tells the world you don't know your partner well like a pre-made gift basket. These are nice to give to acquaintances and colleagues, but not someone you're supposed to know inside out. It's even worse if you gift one that contains nothing your partner likes. Put in the effort and make your own personalized one if you want to go this route.
